Apple have today taken the unprecedented step of releasing a public open letter to it’s many millions of customers.

The letter details requests made to Apple by the American government for “backdoor” access to any iPhone’s operating system.

Apple are strongly contesting the request, given that their entire operating system is based around giving their customer’s the most security and best encryption on the market.

It’s a bold step by Apple to place such communications in the public domain, and certainly an action that should be commended for it’s openess and transparancy.

The entire letter is available to read here: Apple’s Customer Letter.
